I am an intern in the Marketing department at Mueller. I will be graduating from Illinois State University in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing – Data Analytics.
In previous internships, my time was spent doing Marketing work but the results weren’t very rewarding. The work I was doing was relatively repetitive and I felt that I wasn’t learning needed skills. When I came to Mueller, I had no idea what to expect, but I was hoping it would be a better experience than in the past.
My time here has been phenomenal. I have worked on a variety of projects including graphic design, database entry (which has involved working with the partners), sales proposal development, website editing, and event planning, all while being treated like a full-time employee. Working at a mid-size firm has allowed me to experience all aspects of Marketing, not just one specialty. Over the summer I have also had the opportunity to take part in team-building events like snack carts and venue sourcing in Chicago. Because of Mueller’s diverse set of employees and clients, I have also been able to grow my professional networks.
Through this, I have grown in my personal knowledge while expanding my practical abilities. From here, I am able to leave for my last year of college feeling prepared, open and excited for a career in the working world. This internship has confirmed that Marketing is what I want to do with my future, and I have Mueller to thank for that.
